Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the FALL sale, or to see some new FALL/WINTER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Hi,

Went to J Crew in Century City Westfield, LA today and there were quite a few sweaters (both wool and cashmere), a few silk sleeveless tops, lots of regular long sleeved tops. There were a few pencil skirts and dresses for sale, the bottoms seemed a little picked over. Additional 30% off on sale.

Oh and white bootcut jeans were only $29.99 + 30% off! If you like the bootcut style, this is a steal!

I'll be posting my reviews on my blog soon (this weekend/monday at the latest so stay tuned! :)

  3. I did a brief scan irl and want to try on the colorblock sweater w/the elbow patches. I will keep the dreaded Dream fabric and fragile! in the forefront of my mind. Also want to try on the sequin polka dot top & herringbone scarf.

    1. I would love a review of the herringbone scarf too.

    2. I'll be interested to hear what you think of the colorblock sweater with elbow patches. I tried it on quickly in the tan color with the burgundy on the back and thought the tan washed me out, but I'd like to try it in the other colors because on quick inspection it looks pretty cute.

    1. Phoebe - I believe someone posted that they're mailed out the first week of Nov. There was also discussion that the amount can be looked up now if you want to use it. Haven't tried it myself.

    2. Hmm, the SA at my store said they would mail them around October 20. I guess they pushed it back?

    2. found them in the collection pieces. Great ...more lovely patterns and fabrics...in the capris. They fit me poorly...more money saved I guess. I am trying the paley and the stovepipe (promo but not final sale). I want the prints and fabrics in more than capris.....please please...Carolyn from Vancouver

  8. I was in earlier this week, so I do not plan to go this weekend. My store had some of the new arrivals in, but there were not any must haves for me this time around.

There was a significant update to the final sale section this morning, with numerous popbacks, and some further markdowns including the Sterling skirt which is now $79.99 in Retro Jade and Crimson Maple. There are also several new promo-priced items for both the Women and Men. I've updated both lists which you can access on my blog here.

  9. No visit for me (I try to avoid the mall on weekends at all costs) but I just have to chuckle - Factory is having its first sale (25% off everything with code MOREPLEASE) and a) my cart was dumped and b) none of the items can be viewed - every heading takes you to that green "we are unable to process your request" screen. Snort.

    1. Nice sale, right?! Can't view anything. Can't order anything. Cart dumped. Good times, J Crew, good times!

    2. The cart works for me, but it won't recognize free shipping (I've signed up for the factory first). So irritating.

      Delete
    3. Same with me and the free shipping. I emailed them, they said they would reimburse me, and then proceeded to tell me how to sign into my account to get free shipping. Yes, I know how to sign into my account, and no, the free shipping still doesn't work for me. They were quick to reimburse me, though, I'll give them that.

  10. Has anyone seen or even tried on the Factory fringed tweed jacket? It looks good but I wasn't sure how it compares to any others. I saw some on the Anthro site too but the fabric content was cotton/poly. Any opinions?

  14. Copley in Boston has 25% off full priced boots. Sale section is pretty picked over but there are a few zig zag sequin dresses and tons of the geometric (navy/black) pencil skirts in sizes 2-6.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Also, I was struck last night (at Copley location) at how many Collection pieces were on the sale rack, some from last season. It was a little sad.

Remember when Collection was new, and the pitch was that only a few pieces were made and you'd better hurry if you wanted one?

    1. On the website right now the $495 collection sequin bow pants are $199.99-30%, available in all sizes. Are they learning that their collection prices are too freakin' high yet?
I will note that they are described as slim cut in the leg, but are also lined! (Re: discussion of unlined pants earlier in the week). I contemplated trying them out, but they do show up as final sale so I will wait until final sale goes away.

  16. I was going to go ahead and place a factory order for a couple of items (I don't usually as there is no factory B&M near me), but now I'm aggravated because they've jacked up all the prices. Why offer a 25% promo and then raise your prices? Why not just offer a 15% promo? Very frustrating.

  17. Visited my B&M last night (Park Meadows, Colorado) and joined the love train for the Hothouse Floral blouse. It is stunning IRL and fit is TTS, I took my usual 4. Sale section is still huge (still 30% off), shorts, tanks, short sleeve t's and we had snow and temps in the 20-30's. It's crazy..

  18. I have been eyeing the Draped skirt (11313 ) for awhile. It is Poly and I haven't ever seen it in person but for $49.99 and 30% off (in Modern Red) I thought I would give it a try. I chatted to see what the waist measurements are for a size 2 and they responded with 27.5". That is 1" smaller than a no 2 pencil skirt in double serge cotton. I sized up....

It is final sale so I thought this might be helpful to someone out there. Good Luck!

  20. I'll be heading to a store..I have returns. :(

On another note, does anyone have reviews on the Booker boots? I’ve been eyeing the ones in estate brown, but afraid to pull the trigger. I need a pair that will hold up for a few years, if possible.

  21. Went to the Salem, NH B&M and picked up the colorblock elbow-patch sweater in flax/cabernet. It will probably pill, as it is a Dream sweater, but the colors are so lovely that I just had to buy it. The store has an extra 30% off sale items, and all of the quilted vests were 25% off. The navy one was styled with a kelly green Tippi -- SO cute!

  24. OT: Has anyone seen or heard of J.Crew's 'The Guidebook - Holiday 2012' with a model on the cover wearing a cream coat and red rim specs?

I use Instagram app by typing #jcrew, and saw a couple people who took a picture of this guidebook. It didn't say Style Guide but Guidebook, and wondering if this is indeed the holiday catalog? And has J.Crew been mailing this to customers now?

  26. Double-posting from the reviews thread, but I just stopped into a B&M yesterday and posted more reviews from the new rollout here. The reviews include two items that were only at our higher-tier store.

  27. I went yesterday to do returns. They had new items, but the prices are just way too high. I looked at a cute navy, metal bracelet but it was fifty bucks. I probably would have bought it if it was twenty bucks cheaper. ;(

  28. I emailed Jcrew because I was getting the 25% off tights and socks discount and this was their reply:
Darla J: Thank you. There is a known issue if you add "3 for" items to your bag and apply a promotion code, it reverts to the original price. I'm sorry about that. We will be happy to manually adjust your order if you'd like to call 1-800-562-0258 to order. I can do it in chat, as well, but phone will be faster for you.
Darla J: We can also apply the discount when your order ships if you prefer to order online. Just provide the order number to us in chat or by emailing it to contactus@jcrew.com.

  29. I went the the other day and bought the hothouse floral top and pave heart necklace w/my 20 off coupon. I love that necklace and will definitely be keeping that, and the hothouse top is gorgeous, but pricey. However, I do see it selling out quickly and being something I would wear for a long time. So, the jury is still out on that one. I didn't try on those black and white patterned jeans, but they are so cute!! The few blog posts I've seen of people wearing them look really great.

  30. Went to the Tyson's VA store today. They have a great sale section - I got the Collection Shawl Collar Blazer in Berry for $139. (After promo). What a beautiful jacket! The 2 fit perfectly (that is the smaller of my jacket sizes), waist nipped in. I have been eyeing it for months now, so I couldn't be happier. A shout out to the JCA that told us the jacket was in some stores for $199! I also picked up the D'Anjo (lovely) and the optic spot silk shirt for $55. I am really excited! For anyone looking - they had the buckled Mona's in deep navy for $159 plus 30% off.

  33. Went in today to do a return and my SA pointed out that bubble necklaces came out in a crewcut version (92038) in navy and mint for $59.50. Another SA was wearing one herself. It's a normal sized necklace for times when the grown up bubble necklace is just a little bit much -- completely appropriate for adult wear. I had to get both colors, of course. Will be "borrowing" often from daughter's jewelry box...

But that was my only purchase. Nothing too exciting among other new arrivals this week.

  34. I went in today to buy a gift for a friend's birthday and ended up also walking out with the garment-dyed twill ankle toothpick jean. I think I got the soft peach color (it says on the tag "SPE") and not the neon persimmon, but they look very similar online. Can anyone verify that SPE = soft peach?

In any case, these jeans seem solid, but I can't believe they used to be $125. I paid $28+tax for these with the extra 30% off sale.

    1. Phoebe - Soft peach would indeed be SPE. Neon persimmon would be NPE. :)

  37. I don't know if there are a lot additional price reductions, but last night (?) they knocked another $40 off the jade and saffron wool cafe capris, making them just $34.99 after the discount! Combined with the free shipping on my account that was quite a deal! I wouldn't have done it without the free ship so yay for (at last) offering some perks.

And wow, the camel plaid cafe capris are listed as sold out! I'm glad I ordered mine when I did. The color winds up a little different than pictured--the flecks of black in the camel herringbone background give the camel a slightly olive tint rather than a warm, true camel, but they'll still work.

  38. I went to the Houston Galleria store twice this week and didn't buy a single thing. Nothing for my husband and not even the usual hair clips because they didn't have the two sizes that I use.

I tried the Hothouse blouse just for fun. Although the color is listed as aqua it is too warm green for me, there are no blue undertones in the green. It's also short and think my bust lifted it up a bit as well so no go, even if the colors worked. Lovely print though, I could maybe do it on a cardigan with a different colored tee or turtle underneath, navy, deep red or burgundy perhaps.

Speaking of short, whoever warned me about the Loomknit sweatshirt length being short was bang on. Too bad because it's cute but definitely too short for me at 5'9".

I am ordering the LS cashmere tee in Pagoda Blue. I saw it in the Tippi version and it is gorgeous, wish they would have had it available for the sweater promo. If I didn't need full-length sleeves I would have bought the cashmere Tippi in the store.

There were plenty of the navy French hen sweaters in a range of sizes, a few Frenchie sweaters left too. Sale section wasn't huge but there were patent and suede Martina wedges in a few sizes. The rest was a real menagerie of one-offs.

  39. Took a first peek at the new JC Factory Store in Vaughan Mills (north of Toronto) this morning. For any Canadian JCAs, 20 to 40 percent off all items in-store, best discounts on skimmer and cord pants, 30% on dresses. With additional 25% discount and free shipping on the new website, online still considerably better deal. They do have a full selection of colours and sizes tho' (plaid shirts, cashmere, lots of scarves etc.) so good for size comparison try-ons or small items not worth waiting for UPS for.

  43. I stopped in to return some things, said goodbye to the Light Nectar Stadium-Cloth Duffle Coat. They were pretty awesome about letting me return a metallic swing sweater that has been hanging in my closet forever (tags on, never worn). They were awesomely quick about all my returns and so nice. I'd also tried out the Emmet Ankle Boots and I returned those too. I wanted them to work, and they looked really cute, but they were a pain to put on and take off and I didn't love the color. I left with a flannel shirt and a navy blue Tippi cardigan.

    1. Cate - Did you review the Light Nectar Stadium-Cloth Duffle coat? I may have missed it. I'm curious why you didn't like it. The photo in the catalog definitely tempted me to try it. I don't own any J. Crew coats and haven't found the right one to try yet.

      Delete
    2. I don't think I reviewed it. It's very nice and I almost kept it. If I'd tried on one size smaller I might have liked it better. It seemed heavy and oversized and shapeless (maybe it is supposed to fit this way?). The only closure was a zipper, which I didn't care for, I prefer a belt or buttons instead of or in addition to a zipper. The pockets were big and useful. The inside looked very well done (I think the contrast piping inside was in seersucker, pretty cool!). I think maybe for me it was the wrong combination of style and color. I might have liked this coat in a darker color or I might have liked the Light Nectar in a more fitted style or one with a belt. I could have made this work, but it was full price and for that I would need to really love it. If it goes on sale, I might order it in the size smaller some day.

Found a store with the diagonal sailor long sleeve tee in my size-love! I am on the large end of Med (10), and it just fit, and was very cute. Tried the L, but it was meh. Also got the super cheap ($25 pre-30%) turquoise gingham-think it will be cute under my navy sweater.
