  1. Love the 20% sales with the new rollout. Love the help I got with a WWFIFY search this week!!! Love the cheery spring rollout in dreary February. Love my store sales associates, they are great!

  2. This relates if only for the fact that it is regarding my favorite shirt. Purchased the boyshirt in Poppy Plaid awhile ago and it was my go-to flannel shirt. No other shirt from J. Crew has fit me better. Made the mistake of putting it in the dryer last night and it SHRUNK LIKE CRAZY. I've never EVER had a problem with drying other J. Crew shirts. Needless to say, I'm very sad.

I refuse to give up on it, so, does anybody have any tried and true methods of unshrinking something? I've heard of a vinegar method, and a baby shampoo method. Any help would be appreciated. :(

    1. Lisa - I've only heard of washing the shirt and then stretching it before letting it dry. Or washing it and then putting it on while still damp. It's supposed to conform to your body as it dries. Maybe try the vinegar or baby shampoo info you & read, stretch it out *and* put it on. Good luck. As far as machine drying, I just set it to medium now. And sometimes I dry on low and check before adding more dry time.

    2. Oh how sad! I have and love that shirt, too. Will definitely think twice before putting it in the dryer!

    3. Yes, do NOT put it in the dryer. seriously. I was SO sad when I put it on. I never know which J. Crew items are preshrunk, and this one is definitely not.

Thanks so much, Gigi. I'll try that tonight!!

    4. Lisa, have you heard of the conditioner/softener method? Not sure it works of flannel, but it works on wool. Just soak the garment in cold water saturated with conditioner or softener for a while and then stretch it. The softener supposedly relaxes the fabric, which can help it stretch.

  3. OT but the silk collar tee says machine washable but does anyone know if the navy color will stain the lighter silk collar tee? Anyone have any experience on washing from the navy long sleeve version over the winter? Thanks!

    1. cuckoo, if I remember correctly the navy long sleeved one had a black silk collar. I would be very careful machine washing anything like that - JC can't really be trusted with their care instructions sometimes.

    2. Oh yes you're right- long sleeve version in navy did have a black collar so it didn't matter. I just don't see how that silk collar won't get stained when it's machine washed in all the dark colors.

    3. cuckoo - If you end up washing Peter Pan with dark colors, use a Shout Color Catcher. Just remembered I did a post on it here with before & after pics of the Shout sheet.

I recently had a camel/white striped Old Navy blouse bleed. The camel bled onto the white. I rewashed with the Shout thingie and the bleeding went away almost 100%. Those things are amazing. Good luck.

  4. Wow! I love the Goldsign Jenny selvedge jean in the debut wash. I didn't want to love them because of the price (I used my 20% off code, even though fine print said In Good Company items were excluded). The fit is just perfect. Higher rise, straight leg. The description says cropped, but they were not cropped on me (~5'3"). I had to have them shortened. They run slightly small compared to J. Crew pants (I ordered 27, which is what I am in most designer jeans, even though I wear a 26 in J. Crew denim). The price doesn't even really bother me because I know they'll be my go to pair. Good job Adriano Goldschmeid (maker of my first pair of designer jeans way back in 2001 -- all hail the A.G. Angel jeans).

  5. Loving the 20% promo, but did find out today that b&m stores will no longer apply the educator/student discount on sale items, only full-priced. Apparently, this was a company wide decision announced yesterday. Anyone try to today?

  6. Loving the 20% off too! I went in to spend my rewards card and came out with 3 items I love - Stripe Shirttail Dress, Ponte Swing Dress & the lovely collared eyelet tee. The tee was a bit overpriced BUT I'm going to a dinner tomorrow night and it will look great!

  7. J.Crew CS has been amazing lately. I was debating on using my 20% plus a $50 rewards cardto buy the Emmaleigh dress, which I have never seen in store, or the art deco cuff. Decided to go with Emmaleigh since she was not final sale. About an hour later, walked by my local store and guess what, they had the Emmaleigh. And guess what - it was a completely different shade of blue than it looked online. Plus it had all sorts of details in the front that were not obvious from the stock photo and were not to my taste. The B&M had the art deco cuff too - which happened to fit my skinny wrists.

I got on the phone with J.Crew and explained my predicament. Because it had only been an hour, they could not cancel the order. They did agree to waive return shipping and let me place a new order for the art deco cuff with a notation to apply my GC when after emmaleigh dress is returned.

Chances are I will probably end up using the GC on something else....and not put them through that hassle ...but great CS, J.Crew.
