Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. I've been really impressed with Nisolo lately. I've bought three pairs of shoes and all of them are beautiful:

    Huarache sandals
    Serena sandals
    Smoking shoe

All have fit me in my usual size 8 and they're all well made. Only the smoking shoes require a little breaking in because the leather is a little stiffer. I seriously want one of everything they make.

And, if you check out the site, please read their about section and their social impact information to get a better idea of their company views.

  2. Boden's summer modern pencil skirt in green gingham is absolutely gorgeous! So happy with this skirt. I also picked up the striped linen tee and will pair with the gingham skirt for a quirky outfit.

  3. My newly rekindled love for Limited continues. I just received the faux suede jacket, a deep green-olive bomber. Rich color, luxurious lining, and looks far more expensive than it was (I paid $36 on promo). I have broad shoulders but a slim torso, and I'm finding that Limited buttondowns and jackets fit me better than JC these days.

    1. That jacket is really cute! How did you manage to get it for only $36? I couldn't believe it when I found myself trying on a pleather jacket at Zara last week, and although it was a terrible cut for me, too cropped, I loved the mustard yellow colour and ended up browsing for mustard yellow jackets for hours. Strangely enough, I found the same jacket, complete with Zara photos on eBay from a China-based seller for about 1/3 the price.

    2. How funny that you found the same Zara jacket on eBay! Limited sometimes runs good promos Fri-Sun. I think they were doing 50% off sale + 20% additional for orders over $100 when I ordered. Worth checking weekend promos if there's something you'd like to try!

    3. I know, I couldn't believe how blatantly the eBay seller was using Zara's photos. I wonder how often the sweatshops keep a pile of the merchandise they make for US companies and sell it themselves? This seller had all the sizes and everything, it wasn't a one-off. Thanks for the tips on Limited promos!

  4. I still like Banana Republic's straight denim. J. Crew has no equivalent and hasn't for years. The waist is a mid-rise, they have stretch, and they're really easy to wear. They roll up nicely if you want to show some ankle. They seem to fit no matter whether I gain or lose weight. If I had to keep only one pair of jeans in my closet, these would be the ones. Second place would be J. Crew's newer Matchsticks, though, but it's a distant second.

  6. Old Navy - ENJOY for 40% off ends tonite, Sun 5/15 at 8:59pst. I tried the mid-rise wide-leg crops yesterday in white. I really liked them. Would probably get an 8P (sz 6 equiv).

The length was ok, but just a ittle long on me (5'0") since they're supposed to be cropped. The petite length would probably ensure that they look modern.

Do-over. The prev had an affiliate link.
