Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  2. New arrivals at Factory today - there are some cute things, including a few holiday tees, waffle-knit shirts, plaid pants and an "elephant jacquard" mini skirt that is clearly printed with zebras. Ha!

    1. Thanks for pointing that out and giving me a laugh! They haven't corrected it yet.

  3. Hi again, JCA's - I returned a Madewell order by mail this week and was accidentally charged for shipping (I have Madewell Insider status for free returns). I noticed that the charge for returns increased from $5.95 to $7.50. CS refunded my shipping, but it's worth signing up for their loyalty program and avoiding that return shipping cost (and increase).

  4. Banana Republic is now selling vintage Hermes, Louis Vitton, and Chanel bags with the matching high price tags, just mixed in there with all of their other accessories. I am so confused...*So* confused. How do they envision this fitting in with their brand? It's like an employee decided to just pop them on the website because they were too lazy to list them on eBay.

    1. That's really random. Some of their "normal" stuff is getting back on the right track though. Some nice looking sweaters for fall. Also the Ombre Coat looked promising and I was able to order it yesterday for 40% off plus another 10% off for using BR card. I hope it looks as nice in person!

    2. I remember Fossil doing something like this, although it was years ago and I haven't looked at their site in a long time. It wasn't LV, Hermes, etc, but neat vintage finds of old leather pieces and other stuff (maybe even an old typewriter?). To me it gave their brand some hipster cache and showed their design influences.

  5. I bought a couple of Ann Taylor merino wool sweaters and I have high hopes for them! I am done with JCrew "merino" wool. Even on super sale it's not worth it because they pill insanely after a couple wear. The ones I bought from Ann Taylor feel better and smoother right out the gate. Time will tell.

  6. Madewell is offering 25% off 'Wear-Now Style' with code LAYERUP at checkout. I've shared my personal picks in this post on my blog for those interested. :)
