Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

    1. @silver_lining, you beat me to it :). Just saw that early access was working too. A couple of things of interest (the silk wrap in blue and palm prints!). The pink patterned skirt I was waiting for though is a hi low hem - no good for me :/. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else thinks of the early access items!

    4. Thanks for posting, silver_lining!

I love the black string halter dress in eyelet and the Ratti coral palms print. I hope they offer that print in items other than swim. I’ll pass on the ruffled skirts, bralets, poly tops (awful in summer heat) and upteen word tees.

    5. @silver_lining So appreciated! I was so ready to see something new.

Bead and stone earrings, cotton wrap knit skirt in stripe (ruffles mean I won’t purchase until sale), and island floral silk pant. Pants are a good price point for silk and I ordered from Brookfield this weekend with promo. Pants are the only item I’m ordering since I wear this style of pant a lot and I really like the print; it’s versatile and will pair well with several items in my closet. Was tempted to order matching jacket, but didn’t. If it makes it to sale, then I’ll try it. This print isn’t what I would’ve considered for summer. Description is “fun, Hawaiian floral.” Gotta love Hawaii 😃. Seems more like fall transition, so I’m curious to see how it sells. There appears to be a skinny scarf in this print too. You csn see it being worn as a headband in jacket photo. Hope that made it to production since I love my Drake skinny scarves.

Like both “palm prints” and also hoping they’re made in something besides swim since I don’t need any swimwear. String halter dress in white looks like a good option for weekends, summer events and vacation. It’s cotton and looks breezy. Silk wrap blazer in deep navy is a jacket alternative that could work well with white and/stripes for summer. I love linen for summer and the linen lace up dress is cute. You can also search new arrivals on the website by category.

  2. I'm so glad to see that because I'm dreadfully bored with everything lately.

Of course my life is pretty boring, so not sure why I'd need a silk island floral kimono and pajama pant ensemble—it fits neither my budget or my lifestyle—and that pant style doesn't usually flatter me, but how pretty and retro chic.

I also like that mockneck black and red floral top, but it's poly and looks like there's sort of a peplum type hem.

For real life I'm contemplating some shorts from factory, but pricing games drive me nuts and returns are a pain in the butt, but I'm watching the prices and I might just go for it because they're better than retail offerings right now and I could use a few more for this summer.

  3. Ugly stuff in the new arrivals.I got the early access email. Not a thing I like. I did go to Nordstrom rack this weekend and got two J. Crew tops for a total of $19.98. One is the swimmers t shirt of recent, with the 4 girls in bathing suits. The other is from holiday. Sleeveless black poly top with a big bow on one shoulder in maroon, sequined. Both had been sold at Nordstrom and were sent over to Rack.

    1. @RN Not one thing I like either. The print are too large scale for me, I don’t like high low hems and don’t do dresses where I can’t wear a regular bra. Also linen just wrinkles too easy and looks sloppy to me. I feel like I sound like a cranky old woman! I already purchased a few summer pieces elsewhere and do have a few items leftover from end of summer clearance from last year so I am good. I am happy there appear to be a good selection of natural fiber items. Unfortunately I just don’t dig the style or prints on these items.

    2. @RN - I've been trying to track down that swimmers T! Which Nordstrom Rack was it? (do Nordstrom Racks do charge-sends..?)

    3. eeps, It was in Natick, MA . It was the only one they had and it was on this new rack they have called Direct From Nordstrom. The shirt was only $7.97!! No idea about charge sends.

    4. Hi eeps, what size are you looking for? I will keep an eye out in my store, I know I've seen it recently. Also, Nordstrom Rack did do charge sends about 8 years ago when I was DVF obsessed.

    5. @Cheritheberry - thanks! Looking for a small.

    6. Tired to reply earlier and it's not here so if I post twice, my apologies.

Epps, they have size small in Short Hills store.

    1. I agree! Nothing exciting for me. A mishmash of designs with no cohesion or story color to it.

  5. Thanks for the link. I’mhaving a hard time finding clothing this year...not just at JCtew....everywhere. I’m looking for bra friendly dresses...skirts seem to be more popular this season. I do love some of the prints I feel like that aren’t as flattering on me as a dress. I also feel like a lot of the styles feel too much like occasion or resort wear. I need pretty functional pieces that can go to work, dinner or brunch.

  6. I agree with others, not much that I actually want. I'm happy to see some natural fibers, but still a lot of poly. Nothing is that interesting or a must have, and not much that fits my lifestyle in the summer. I like one tank top and a tee, but they are pretty basic and not a must have especially at the price points.

I used the above link and there's plenty to like. The Wallace and Barnes sweaters (2 of them) in recycled denim are ones to look for. A very 'blue' and washed denim roll out. Love so much of it.

  8. Happy to have finally been a a couple of stores over the weekend. They had 50% off sale and yes I bit and bit hard. Bowery slim and 770 pants for $15 and $25. Slim washed shirts for $26. Stretch striped polo, charcoal slim oxford shirt and a merino slim v-neck all on sale.

Bought one full pop item, charcoal crew neck in cotton. Obviously I'm feeling the charcoal and cream colour vibe.

Saw the new tech shorts which look good in various colours, but I don't need more of shorts so a pass for me.

Happy Victoria Day to all my fellow Canadians!

    1. I've been buying my husband the Bowery slim pants in recent sales - a blue cotton mini check, sage green summer weight wool, two pair of chinos, and a neat pair of heavy wool black and white tweed for next winter. He's always gone for custom tailored trousers, but I've converted him with the Bowery slim fit.

Also several of the slim fit shirts as well - did you notice the cuffs are too large? I'll move the buttons a tiny bit to help, but I don't understand the large cuffs.

    2. I love the Bowery slim pants; and for the price they are a steal.

Haven't noticed a problem on my cuffs yet, but I do know they different shirts have different widths in how wide the cuff is.

  9. I think the silk wrap blazer in island floral is very pretty in person though I have no practical use for it. I can't wear that to work without someone asking if I'm wearing my bathroom, even on summer Fridays.
The sundress in poplin paisley is NOT that dull in color in person (same with the skirt). It is nearly NEON. Not sure if it's my screen but the colors in general are not this dull in person for more than a few items that I've previewed at Brookfield.

The textured wrap mini in coral is very cute. Haven't seen it in person yet. I often have problems with wraps because my hips/butt are almost too wide to sit without flashing someone. Kind of hoping this is actually a faux-wrap.

  11. I just received an email about news in regards to your shopping bag. Except these are not items in my shopping bag. I know others have received these but it is my first time. It really does not inspire confidence at all in regards to my account information.

    1. I get that all the time. Plus when I go to my cart there is always someoone else's items in there and I can see they are associated with an email account that is not mine. This has been happening for close to a year. Becuase of this I am scared of their security so I place my orders by phone only.

    2. I stopped getting email from J Crew a year or so ago. I was tired of 3-4 per day. I rely on this site and checking the J Crew site for new promos. I do not miss them...

  13. I actually liked quite a few things, especially the blue wrap linen dress. It's on back order until July? I also like the black corset linen dress and the green sheath linen. I'm a dress person and these are so easy. I love the tie blouse in Cherry print, just fun. The silk wrap jacket looks interesting; but it doesn't fit in my current wardrobe.

  14. I read an article on Bloomberg recently that in the absence of a designer “figurehead,” J Crew is designing these days “by committee.”

I thought about it today when reading the comments above about a lack of cohesiveness in the new arrivals. Pleasing everyone (as in a committee) often means shooting for a nonexistent middle with no POV like in the Jenna/Marissa/Gayle/Somsack days, and that may explain the blandness in everything J Crew these days.

  16. I love the midi skirts - both colors in the clip dot and the rugby stripe. Perfect summer pieces that I can throw on with a t shirt while I’m off on summer break (and can’t wear dresses yet as I’m still nursing). I was interested in the paisley skirt but don’t like the hi low hem and worried about colors as mentioned above. Agree there is a lack of cohesion/direction.

  17. I ordered the seaweed green linen dress. Looks like a great work dress so fingers crossed it runs true to size! I desperately wanted to order the silk twill island print easy pant but decided it probably isn't something I can wear for work so would be limited use and decorate my closet more often than it would decorate me.
